MAFIZ, el área de industria del Festival de Málaga, vuelve a reunir del 4 al 8 de marzo en una nueva edición a cineastas y profesionales del audiovisual, contribuyendo así a visibilizar producciones y proyectos nacionales y latinoamericanos para promover su finalización y acceso a los circuitos internacionales. De esta forma, se cumple satisfactoriamente con el objetivo fundacional de esta iniciativa. Una nutrida programación dará cabida a la presentación de proyectos y filmes inacabados, conferencias y espacios para conectar con otros profesionales del sector que apuesten por dar continuidad a los mismos.
Spanish Screenings Content se afianza como el escaparate de la producción española más reciente y el talento local ante el resto del mundo, reforzada por tercer año consecutivo por fondos del Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia impulsado por el Ministerio de Cultura y el Ministerio para la Transformación Digital y de la Función Pública. Bajo este paraguas se celebra Málaga Short Corner, una fuerte apuesta por un espacio exclusivo para la promoción, difusión y distribución de cortometrajes recientes y relevantes. Cabe destacar asimismo el Industry Talk que ofrecerán directoras de los departamentos de industria de festivales internacionales.
Una de las líneas estratégicas, tanto de MAFIZ como del Festival de Málaga, es incentivar la participación de las mujeres en el sector audiovisual. Ejemplo de ello es Warmi Lab, que el año pasado inició su camino y ahora en 2024 evoluciona hacia un espacio de encuentro entre productoras andaluzas y del país invitado de honor de Latinamerican Focus, Paraguay, o las colaboraciones que el Festival mantiene con asociaciones de mujeres cineastas.
Este año la Comunidad Autónoma de Canarias será la invitada para promocionar y difundir sus políticas audiovisuales en Territorios, una sección que busca ser punto de encuentro entre productores, empresas y profesionales del sector. La delegación llegará a Málaga con el objetivo de dar a conocer sus incentivos fiscales, localizaciones y producciones propias que ponen en valor el potencial del archipiélago.
Una edición más, MAFIZ mantiene en su parrilla sus iniciativas centrales gracias a su gran aceptación por la industria. Por su parte, MAFF, el mercado de proyectos en español, propiciará un fructífero encuentro entre productores y socios financieros para dar un impulso a los mismos, así como WIP, la sección creada para contribuir a la finalización de películas en fase de postproducción. Además, Hack y Málaga Talent continúan como muestra del apoyo del Festival al talento joven. Todos los acreditados de MAFIZ podrán disfrutar de un completo programa de actividades que incluirán conferencias, mesas redondas y presentaciones en las que se debatirá sobre la actualidad y el futuro del sector.
Por último, el hotel NH Málaga será la sede principal de MAFIZ donde entidades, organismos públicos de fomento del audiovisual de España y Latinoamérica y compañías de ventas contarán con un espacio para divulgar sus producciones y los servicios que ofrecen.

MAFIZ, the meeting point for contents in Spanish
MAFIZ, the industry area of the Malaga Festival, will once again bring together filmmakers and audiovisual professionals in a new edition from the 4th to the 8th of March. It will help to raise the profile of national and Latin American productions and projects to promote their completion and access to international circuits. In this way, the main objective of this initiative is satisfactorily fulfilled. An extensive programme will include the presentation of unfinished projects and films, conferences and spaces to connect with other professionals in the industry who are committed to giving continuity to these projects.
Spanish Screenings Content is consolidating its position as a showcase for the most recent Spanish productions and local talent for the rest of the world. It is reinforced for the third consecutive year by funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service. Malaga Short Corner will be held under this framework, a strong commitment to an exclusive space for the promotion, dissemination, and distribution of recent and relevant short films. It is also worth mentioning the Industry Talk, which will be given by the directors of the industry departments of international festivals.
One of the strategic approaches of both MAFIZ and the Malaga Festival is to encourage the participation of women in the audiovisual industry. An example of this is Warmi Lab, which began its journey last year. Now in 2024 is evolving into a meeting place for Andalusian female producers and the country of honour of Latinamerican Focus, Paraguay, or the collaborations that the Festival maintains with associations of women filmmakers.
This year the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands will be invited to promote and disseminate its audiovisual policies at Territories, a section that aims to be a meeting point for producers, companies, and professionals from the industry. The delegation will arrive in Malaga with the aim of publicising its tax incentives, locations and in-house productions that highlight the potential of the archipelago.
Once again, MAFIZ will maintain its core initiatives on its schedule thanks to their great acceptance by the industry. Meanwhile, MAFF, the in Spanish projects market, will provide a fruitful meeting between producers and financial partners to give them a boost, as will WIP, the section created to contribute to the completion of films in the post-production phase. In addition, Hack and Málaga Talent continue as a sign of the Festival’s support for young talent. All MAFIZ accreditation holders will be able to enjoy a full programme of activities that will include conferences, round tables and presentations in which current affairs and the future of the industry will be discussed.
Finally, the Hotel NH Málaga will be the main location for MAFIZ. Entities, public bodies for the promotion of audiovisuals from Spain and Latin America, and sales companies will have a space to showcase their productions and the services
