El viceministro de Creatividad y Participación Popular del Ministerio de Cultura de la isla caribeña, Amaury Sánchez, recibió de manos de Francisco de la Torre, alcalde de Málaga, la Biznaga de Honor al país invitado que otorga el Festival.
Abrió el acto el alcalde, que subrayó la excelente labor que está llevando a cabo República Dominicana en el fomento del audiovisual, y que el galardón les sirva de estímulo para continuar en esa línea.
Por su parte, el viceministro se mostró agradecido y apuntó que este reconocimiento representa el esfuerzo de la industria del cine del país. De igual modo, quiso compartirlo con “todos aquellos que se esfuerzan para que las películas se hagan”.
La presencia dominicana se ha expandido durante el Festival con la participación tanto en las secciones competitivas, como en MAFIZ. Así se demostró en la charla de Marianna Vargas, en la que definió la “fórmula dominicana”: la combinación de apoyo institucional, naturaleza, tejido empresarial y un gran capital humano.

The Vice-Minister of Creativity and Popular Participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Caribbean Island, Amaury Sánchez, received the Biznaga of Honor of the Festival from Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Malaga, in the Mirror Room of the City Hall.
The event was opened by the mayor, who underlined the excellent work being carried out in the country to promote the audiovisual sector and that the award should serve as a stimulus for them to continue along these lines.
For his part, the vice-minister expressed his gratitude and noted that this recognition represents the efforts of the country’s film industry. He wanted to share it with “all those who work hard to get films made.”
The Dominican presence has expanded during the Festival with participation in both the competitive sections and MAFIZ. This was demonstrated in Marianna Vargas’ talk, in which she defined the “Dominican formula”, the combination of institutional support, nature, business fabric and great human capital.
